Ok here it goes on my life. Well I started dating my husband George Sweeney in April 1970, then after graduation in 72 I worked at K-mart in Marlow Heights in Sporting Goods until December 73,after that when I started working at Census Bureau in Governments Division and have been there in that Division my whole career 39 years. I will be retiring in November this year ( thank God). I have been marry to George for 38 years this pass March 30th. I have to grown children a son Chris 37 and a daughter 31, both married no grandkids yet. But hope one day. I have 1 granddog Ellie and a grand bird Chico (africa gray) that likes to talk alot. Lifes been good. But this pass February and March lost 3 of my granddogs Chessie ( black lab), my daughter dog but lived with us, Tyson and Lexie my son and daughter in law dogs in 37 days. We were very sad going through this I was with them until the end. My heart just was so broke up over this. But they say life goes on and one day I will see them all. Me and George live in District Heights after we got married until 78 then moved to Anne Arundel County and have been there since then in Deale Maryland. Have not traveled any at all but that is ok as long as I am healthy. That is all I can think of now. But maybe later if I can think of anything I will put it down! The End!!

High school was OK for me. I wasn’t a great student and really struggled. I was insecure but ok in my group of friends. Started working right out of school and wanted my independence. My parents didn’t think the same way I did. They were just so stupid. I got married in 1974 to get out of the house and married a Minister. I worked in an office with Carol Davis for a short time. I wasn’t very good at what I did so found another job and flourished there. Moved to Butler, PA in 1976 and after 6 years of mental and physical abuse from my husband and with the self esteem of a bug, I finally got out and moved back home. I was amazed at how smart my parents had become. I started working at the Library of Congress in 1979 and I'm still working there now. December 2014 is my target date to retire. I went from far right to far left and married a recovering alcoholic ex con in the early 80’s. Well that didn’t work either. So, after six years and on the verge of bankruptcy I decided to get out. I worked 2 jobs to pay off the debt my husband left me. I got a wonderful stepdaughter out of the deal. I lost track of her after the divorce but found her again on facebook 2 years ago and connected with her again. I broke my own rule of not dating anyone from work and married again in 1991. We have been married for almost 21 years and have a wonderful son, Jon, who is 19. Jon is the love of my life. I went back to school in 1992 and studied psychology. They say you study psychology because you have a crazy person in your life. Well, I think that’s true. Unfortunately, this marriage is also at its end. Three times is enough. I am currently trying to buy a house for me and my son. Things are really crazy for me right now but we are looking forward to starting over. Never thought I would be starting over at this age. It is what it is. All in all, Life is good but challenging. But, the challenge makes you strong and I am that. I haven’t gone far in the last 40 years. I lived in Pennsylvania for 3 years. Other than that, I have always been close to DC. I have been in Fredericksburg, VA for the last 20 years and commute daily to the Hill. That’s it in a nut shell gang. I’m hoping to get to the reunion but just don’t know yet. Hope to see you. Liz

Right after graduation I headed to Washington Hospital Center for surgery; a benign bone tumor needed to be removed from my knee. So instead of parties and Ocean City I spent time with a full length leg castbut that didnt slow me down!

That September I began my 2 year-long studies at Washington Hospital Center for Radiologic Technology (aka X-ray Tech) and in September of 74 began work at Cafritz Memorial Hospital (later changed to Southeastern Medical Center). I bounced around several outpatient facilities and hospitals, my last MD stint being at Southern MD Hospital Center. It was there that I crossed over to Nuclear Medicine.

Nuclear Medicine was a modality of imaging that had never caught my interest before, but at that time was changing quickly. There was also something new in my life; I had a son, William Joseph Scholzen, I call him Billy. Inspired by my new challenges, and wanting to increase my salary, I opted to begin training in this ever changing field. I moved to New Orleans to begin classes at Ochsner Medical Foundation. Twelve months later I was not just certified but inspired by this new knowledge and my 18 month old son! During this time I also fell in love with this big town of New Orleans!!!

I guess moving around got into my way of being because I started bouncing again! First around New Orleans, then to TX, OK, MS, and FL and then back to the town that stole my heartthe Crescent City. I returned to my Nuc Med Alma Mater but this time as a Technologist. Through my travels I went through long and short term relationships and even an engagement but none were meant to be and it was at Ochsner where I met and married my soul mate, Robert. Hes a brave one to marry an older woman (he was 30 & I, 39) who had a 12 year old son.

The date for our wedding was March 13, 1993 and supposed to be in the gazebo on Lake Ponchartrain in Mandeville, LA, but nature was to have her way; the blizzard of 93 blew in the night before so plans were rapidly changed to the indoors (thank goodness for friends who shoved furniture to their back rooms so all could come in out of the snow and cold!). It never dimmed our spirits that day although I do recall hearing my brother-in-law making a comment about it, I knew if she ever married it would freeze in I still giggle :0). Eleven months + a few days later our daughter, Alexandra Cristine, was born on Valentines Day and there never was a more loved or planned child!

Robert completed his residency that summer and we moved to north Texas. We returned to New Orleans in 2002 and now live in Mandeville, LAyes, the place where we marriedfunny how things work out! ;) When asked what my job is now I reply domestic goddess and enjoy the smiles I receive.

Now my son, Billy, will turn 31 on 6/15 and my daughter just made 18 and graduated high school in the class of 2012! Another oddity is her school colors are red & white but their mascot is the bulldognot a Ram.

How I spend my time? Here is some of it:

· Ive been involved in Great Pyrenees dog rescue since 2008

· I play recreational tennis at Pelican Athletic Club in Mandeville, LA and am currently on several USTA teams for mixed league play for the summer.

· I have always drawn for fun but never have painted but started fine art classes with a local artist, Gretchen Armbruster, and love it! One of my paintings is on her student art page of her website.

· I was volunteering at the high school but since Alex has graduated will just help train the newbies next yearthen done with the school stuff.

· Horses: I am not horse savvy but am trying to become that waynever knew horses could read your energy so well : / will need to learn quickly!

Alex has recently undertaken the deed of animal rescue and has 2 horses. She rescued a mother horse and her baby, Dancer. The mother, Mia, is 15 years old.. When they first arrived, Mia was so undernourished she had to lean on things to remain standing and Dancer was only 3 months old and nursing. Alex got them with Mia still undernourished, Dancer almost 3, AND STILL NURSING!!! They had been free in a pasture for 3 years and in need of a lot of training and health care. Both are showing massive improvement. Wanting to be active in their care, she changed her choice of colleges so she could be closer to them and maintain the bond she is forming with them. I am very proud of her and her time, commitment and excellent care she gives. I know they will be long time friends!

Now for my other family: I am the 4th daughter of 6, and 3 of my sisters are in the New Orleans area. One sister is still in the North Beach area of MD but my oldest sister, Linda, died in 95. Her daughters are in Southern MD and have children of their own. I enjoy seeing them whether its on their turf or mine! My father passed in 94 but my mother is still going strong at 86 and lives only minutes away from me! I have two dogs, Bacchus & Hazel, and a cat. The cat, CiCi, really isnt mine she is my neighbors but I bring her in every night because there are coyotes that like cats as snacks and now she (really a he but the meow sounds so sweet) thinks shes mine.

Now that about rounds up the brief history of me and I look forward to June 29th to continue the memories!!!

Kudos to all of you who have continued the spirit of 72 for a reunion that will be one to rememberyour efforts and energy are greatly appreciated!

Theresa Simpson Muri
After graduating from Suitland, I attended Towson State and finished my Psychology degree at the University of Maryland in 1976. In 1977, we moved to Florida. I was blessed with two sons, Mark born in 1982 and Paul in 1985. Sadly, Mark passed away after a long illness in 2004. Paul is working on his PhD at the University of Florida. When I had my children, I stayed home with them. To this day, I do not work outside my home. Recently, I adopted a rescue puppy. My friends and I take our dogs to the local nursing home every month.

                                                                   Update 2022

Sorry I am unable to join you at the 50th Reunion.  I am experiencing arthritis in my knees which is making it hard for me to travel.  Living still in Sunrise, Florida.  My son Paul completed his doctorate at the University of Florida in 2013.  In 2015,  he got married and moved to Houston, Texas.  He works for NASA at the Johnson Space Center.  I still have my dog Peanut for my companion.  He gives me much joy.

Best wishes for a fun and happy reunion!

When I look back over the past forty years it is hard for me to put all the ups, and downs into a “Bio”. I went to look for old photos and memorabilia, much to my surprise, not what I expected. Do you remember taking a Data Processing Class with the mammoth machine that filled an entire classroom? Today, we take so many photos with our phones, IPADs, and cameras… that it was somewhat disappointing that I could not find many! After high school…. I attended the University of Maryland. I married Neal Gordon, who was in the Navy. In my junior year my husband said…. You have to move with me to Virginia Beach. I either missed home or wanted to finish at UM, so I commuted. Yes, I said commuted. His ship went into dry dock in Baltimore – back home we came. My first son, Michael was born in 1975. At UM I earned my teaching degree in Elementary and Special Education, and later my Masters from George Washington University and what seems like a “Gazillion” other credits here and there. In 1975, I became a stay at home mom, selling that infamous Tupperware. A divorce was eminent. Having not experienced living on my own, or being an adult that was single… life became better even as a single mom.
During my wilder side of life, I met my current husband and soul mate, Bob Robey. Having said that, we have been together as long as I have been teaching! A scary, rewarding and enjoyable 32 years! We have five children between us - yours, mine and ours. Chad, 41 (chef) & Kim (architect) gave us granddaughters: Zaria and Tallulah. They live in Murrells Inlet, SC. Michael, 37, (Lockheed Martin) & Vanessa and her son live in Frederick, MD. Kimberly 37, (Federal Government) & Chris, house dad, live in Rio Rancho with Sebastian (grandson) and Chase (granddaughter). Eugene, 30, (RAM industries) lives in Baltimore, MD. Jamie, 28 & Andre Sr. (State Department) live in Waldorf, MD with our grandsons: Andre Jr. and Trey. Over the past years…. My family has always been my driving force, my pride and joy. My older sister lives with us and has been an inspiration to me, as she has been developmentally disabled from birth. Bob and I could share the many places we have visited, yet we are so down to earth that the “fav” places are with our family. We love beaches, and photographing lighthouses / barns. And working on our family trees. Maybe a book somewhere in the future.
My husband has retired from the U.S. Postal Service and is anticipating my retiring sooner than later. It is difficult as I enjoy my career. I have been in education for 32.5 years in St. Mary’s county. I have taught biology, earth space, chemistry, U.S. History, Government, and for the past 6 years, English. I have even taught Drivers Education for 10 years. I could be an administrator, but love the classroom, and working with teachers to assist them with special needs students in co-taught and supported classrooms. I have had many student teachers, and mentored the new ones. I do not like the tremendous amount and hours of IEP paperwork that has grown from a normal IEP of 3 pages to one that could be well over 35. That makes it daunting. I am into the second generation of teaching, meaning I taught the parents of students. I have been honored with being nominated several times for teacher of the year with the most important and favorite being was from the MCIE: Inclusion Teacher of the Year, and being part of the Maryland Student Service Alliance Fellow (MSSA).
I often think how much our world has changed especially the inclusion of technology, computers, phones, social medias, going green/ when we should have been green all along, attitudes and mentalities of people. We are able to live longer and be stronger. If I live as long to see my grandson that graduated from pre-school (we did not have pre-school or Kindergarten), go to his 40th high school reunion…. I would be a proud 114, and we would be having our 97th reunion… see you then too!

After graduation life as I knew it was very uncertain for me. It took me a few months to realize I needed to leave the area to try and find myself. So off to California I went. Then to Ohio and low and behold I was in Fort McClellan Alabama (April 1974), in the Army. From Alabama I ended up at Fort Belvoir of all places. All I could think of was WOW, how did this happen. Fortunately I only stayed there until Sept. and found myself on a flight to Frankfurt Germany which lasted 2 beautiful years and a whole lot of traveling, softball and concerts. After my 2 years in Germany I ended up back in Alabama for some additional training in aviation. Then onto Oklahoma for my last 2 of 5 years in the military. After my discharge in April 1979 I drove out to California again and have been here ever since. I've been married to my teddy bear husband Ron for 4 years now, we've been together for 14. We have 5 children between us (2 of mine, 3 of his), and 17 grandchildren. Ages 4 - 20 We live in San Jose, CA. I have worked in the Stock Brokerage business since August 1979 and with two of the best brokers in the business since 1983. I absolutely love it. Every day is an adventure. Wouldn't change a thing. See you all at the end of June. With God's Blessings, Kat

Wow I had high expectations at graduation, my path took a different turn, instead of going into the Air Force I married my HS sweetheart Mitch Shockey and my storybook romance took off. Married in 1973, we lived in Surrey Square Apts. until 1977 then we moved to Edgewater MD, our 1st daughter was born in 1978, our son was born in 1980, then our 2nd daughter was born in 1980. Being a stay at home Mom I was able to enjoy a simpler life raising my children, which is quite different than life in the military! 1989 we moved to Cascade MD where we now reside. We became members of Hawley Memorial Presbyterian Church in 1991 and have been blessed ever since. Life was going well Mitch's career was and is successful, after my children were in their early teens they told me (imagine that), that I needed to do something for myself, so after several years of searching, my career path settled in the publishing industry. I have been with Rowman and Littlefield Publishing for the last 10 years working for the College Publishing Dept. And I love it. Life has been sweet, however it hasn't been without challenges and the recent storms. In the year 2000 is when my life took a drastic turn, one in which has blessed me with closer relationship with Christ. The next 11 years of my life have been the most challenging. Many of you have read about the cancers I've endured from 2000 to 2011, but what you all don't know is how God has been in every detail since my journey began. I know there are those that have a close relationship with Christ our Savior and understand that you cannot face these storms on our own and thankfully we don't have to. It is also a time when sit back and take inventory on how you have lived your life and what is most important. I have taken that inventory and can tell you that things of this world don't matter. What matters is that when we become disciples of Christ we are to be bold witnesses for spreading of the Gospel. I have been blessed with given additional chances to serve God, and will continue to be a willing servant. So I go forward with my journey being a Light for Christ. I leave you with this final thought... do you know the Jesus I know? He offers the slavation for the lost and the wonderful gift of Eternal Life....something to think about.

Bio For Rick Skeen

After graduating in 72 I really had not thought about what I was going to do.My Dad had got me enrolled at Charles County Community College taking a course in Waste Water treatment and getting a paycheck for going. That wasnt my thing so after 6 months I graduated from there and went to work at D.C. a moving company.I went into the construction field after that working as an insulator.During this time I met my wife and we were married in July 1974.She had 3 children and was 10 years older than me but my hormones wouldnt let me leave her.We had our daughter and only child in December of 1975.In 1978 the construction business was lagging in the area which forced me to leave Suitland and move to West Virginia where I have been ever since.Once the construction industry died out here I went to work in a grocery warehouse. After injuring my back there and getting a partial disability I stated driving a taxi.During this time in 1994 we were blessed with the first of our 11 grandchildren. Its amazing that he will be turning 18 this year(2012).Today we are still here.I am taking care of my wife who has been diagnosed with Dementia. This may prohibit me in attending the reunion but I am keeping my options open.I have enjoyed our little group here even though I did not know many of you.It does bring back so many memories(bad and good).I hope to be there and meet all of you in June.

My name is Loretta J. (Stokes) Black. After graduating, from Suitland High School in 1972, I went to work as an administrative trainee at Peoples Life Insurance Company in Washington, D.C.. I later left that job and became and office manager and dental assistant to a Dentist in Washington, D.C. This was in 1975 when I met my husband to be Alonzo Black. We dated for four years and then married in 1979. After 33 years of marriage, we now have five grown children, sixteen grand-children and three great grand-children.

Reflecting back, in 1979 I began my own business in modeling, fashions and fashion designing and tailoring. After 33 years working in the industry, I am now working the business as a part-time hobby.

When I was full-time in the fashion industry, I specialized in casual, sports, wedding and prom dresses. I traveled the country and internationally while in the business and spent a great deal of time in New York City, especially in the garment district. Another reason I am part-time is because I spend a great deal of my time now with my grand-children and working with my husband who has a law practice.

Hummmm, life after Suitland High…, Let’s see…, worked in the Courts during the Watergate hearings.., In 1975 I pointed my VW convertible North, to the State of Vermont and never looked back. Have worked as a volunteer, a counselor and a guard in the Vermont State Prison System. Graduated with a Psych degree from Trinity College in Burlington. Worked as a Counselor and Psychotherapist for over a decade with a brief stint Co-facilitating groups for batterers, then a lengthy stint as a Probation Officer in the Domestic Violence Unit. For a time went to Grad School. Later became Director of a Supervised Visitation Center; a program providing children a safe place to visit with their high risk, non-custodial parent. Still later, acted as Consultant to Village Psychotherapy and other developing programs. In 1987 I met a wonderful man, Paul Sahba, of Iranian descent. Married him and we’ve been living the happily-ever-after ever since. And, while Paul and I are both Christians, Paul’s father, Darius, a Muslim by birth and practice, was one of the most gentle and loving individuals that I have ever had the pleasure to know. Darius was completely devoted to his family and everyday Paul and I miss him dearly. I have also been blessed in that both my parents, Frances and Joseph Szwed, are still very much alive. Dad is 93 and mom is 92 and married now for over 67 years !! Other passions I’ve worked on through the years…, Boxer rescue. Animal rights. Photography and of course Poetry, Poetry, Poetry. About two years ago I finally began reciting my poems in front of an audience. They have been well received and the highlight was when a woman stopped me on the street and said she recognized me as “that poet”. Other: I am admittedly a Political Junkie – I love that horse race as it really is high stakes gambling. Unfortunately lately, depending on which side you’re on, it seems that you either win big or you lose big. But of course it’s ultimately the entire country that will win or lose. You decide.

Bio for Liz Tallman Brown

1981 I moved to New Hampshire to be with the greatest man that ever lived, my Dad. He was on limited time cause of health issues. He passed in 1983.

Shortly after I meet and married the second love of my life, Kenny Brown.
We combined families, my three children, Tara, Bip and Dew and his daughter Amanda. We were happily married for six years til he was diagnosed with lung cancer. During his illness, I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. He passed in 1990 and that started a new chapter in my life.

With the loss of two loves of my life, the diagnoses of Multiple Sclerosis (life altering disease) I choose to embrace life. I went back to school and obtained my Bachelors in Behavioral Science. I raised my children into successful adults that have continued onto College as well.

I am enjoying life in New Hampshire with my 4 wonderful children that didn't take the hint when I gave them luggage for a graduation present. I have been gifted with 8 beyond perfect grandchildren. They bring much joy and adventure in my life.

I am ready for the next adventure, that life brings.

Here is the bio per request....yawn... Because my parents did not make much money after high school, my options for a college education were limited to state colleges. I picked Salisbury State College primarily because my older brother had gone there and it was far enough away from home to make it difficult to come back. I spent four years at SSC largely lost and trying to find myself through the studies of philosophy, literature and art. After graduating with a BA, I decided to continue my search for meaning in Boston, MA by attending the Boston Universtiy School of Theology. After finishing a three year Masters degree, I began to pursue ordination in the United Church of Christ, a liberal Protestant denomination, that brought together four denominations in the 1950's, most prominent among them being New England Congregationalism. After working in a Boston area church and doing chaplaincy work at Boston City Hospital I took my first parish position in a town outside of Providence, RI. During my time there I met my wife Deborah who was from nearby Barrington, RI. After getting married I took a church outside of Frederick, MD where our first two daughters Caitlin and Kelsey were born. From MD I took a postion in a church outside of Philadelphia and then served a church in Richmond, VA, where our third daughter Leah was born. From Richmond I took a church in the Farmington Valley of CT where I have been serving the Congregational Church of Burlington for the past ten years.
I have pretty much lived a life of obscurity , trying to help people find some of the same things I have long been searching for, such as , God, a sense of belonging, and a meaning and purpose for being on Earth. Over the years I have tried to stay in touch with my creative side through writing, oil painting and drawing. I also have developed a love of the outdoors and enjoy hiking in places like Acadia National Park in Maine, and kyacking on the lakes of CT. Over the years we have grown to love the Outer Banks where we vacation most every summer. A recent trip to Paris to visit one of my daughters who was studying there was one of he highlights of my life. I am a voracious reader, especially of fiction and a lover of the arts. My three daughters are the love of my life. The two older ones Caitlin and Kelsey both work and live in DC., Kelsey having recently graduated from American University. Recently sadness has visited our household as my wife Deborah battles a cancer for the third time. My years at SHS were filled with rebellion, self-examinaton and a general feeling of not belonging. However in many ways I feel blessed to have been a part a such a tumultuous time in our nations history in a place not to far from our nations capital where I was born and raised.....
